7LifeLanguages™ and the

What is a "Life Language"? It is...
•
the unique way you communicate who you are as an individual
• how you communicate with others, with your values,
with life in general
• how you communicate when in distress
Seven unique Languages have been identified:
Mover, Doer,
Influencer, Responder, Shaper, Producer and Contemplator.
Each language has:
• a unique “filter question”
• a major desire or passion
• a major character quality
• special needs from others
• distinct levels of distress
• is correlated with one of the 7 motivational gifts
in Romans 12.
The 7LifeLanguages™ have three categories:
1) Kinetic
People
who speak
kinetic languages generally respond to
life, people, stress, and values with
actions, then with their heads or
hearts.
2) Emotive
People who speak
emotive languages generally respond to
life, people, stress, and values first with their
hearts, then with their heads and
actions.
3) Cognitive
Those who speak
cognitive languages generally respond to
life, people, stress, and values first with their
heads, then with their hearts and
actions.
It is important to remember that everyone has a combination
of ALL 7LifeLanguages™
at varying levels and intensities.
Because everyone has all
7LifeLanguages™, it is best not to try to
predict, guess, or estimate someone's Primary Life
Language. The best way to identify how people
communicate is by using the Kendall Life Languages
Profile™ (KLLP™).
Please note that although you may think that you recognize
your primary Life Language, everyone is a composite of all
seven languages, in unique distributions, which are
affected by such things as intensity and range of scores.
The accuracy of determining your particular profile can
only be determined by taking the KLLP objective profile
questionnaire. The strength of the 7 LifeLanguage™
Profile is that it has been objectively tested on thousands
of people, unlike more subjective instruments.
Following is a brief description of some of the various
language characteristics.

The 7LifeLanguages™ form the communication system
developed by the Life Languages Institute. It is based on
the 7 motivational gifts mentioned in Romans 12. The
principles derived in the area of communication,
motivation, stress levels, filters, needs, and desires can
be life changing. Once people realize what their Life
Language profile is, and that of others, they can begin to
see why they do what they do, and the way they do it.
We innately and unconsciously communicate primarily through
the 7LifeLanguages™. When a person, married
couple, or workers in a department find out the primary
Life Languages of others, they become less threatened by
differences, do not take things as personally, and are not
as easily offended. The most powerful part of this
understanding is that we can all learn to speak each
other’s Life Languages. This results in amazing
communication, effectiveness and empowerment.
The goal is to become established and fluent in your
primary (number one) Life Language and multi-lingual in the
other six Life Languages. Knowing, understanding and
applying the 7LifeLanguages™ results in effective and
enjoyable communication.

the meaning of the language, I shall be a foreigner to him
who speaks, and he who speaks will be a foreigner to

God
has given each of us a unique Life Language
Profile. Other concepts can classify
people and say, “that’s just the way you
are.” We say, “This is your Life Language
Profile. This is how you view the world. This is how you
operate under stress. These are your strengths and
weaknesses. And, these are the other Life Languages you can
learn to speak!” That is revolutionary and exciting!
We realize that Jesus spoke (or operated) in each of the
7LifeLanguages™ in His ministry. If He could do
it, then by His grace and understanding, so can we! Romans
12:4-5 says, “For just as we have
many members in one body and all the members do not have
the same function, so we, who are many are one body in
Christ, and individually members one of another.”
The Kendall Life Languages
Profile™ (KLLP™) accurately measures each
person’s communication style using the
7LifeLanguages™. Each of us speaks all of the
7LifeLanguages™; they are in descending order, from
our strongest or primary Life Language to our seventh or
weakest Life Language. Our individual combination of Life
Languages is what makes us each different and unique.
The
7LifeLanguages™
offer very comprehensive insights. God has given each of us a
unique 7LifeLanguages™ profile. We all have a Primary
Life Language that will guide our communication more
than the others. We also have a last (seventh) Life
Language that will tend to challenge us. Yet one of the
best things is that everyone can become multilingual and
learn the other Life Languages. Where other profiles may
put people in a “box,” the
7LifeLanguages™ encourage people to become skillful
communicators and learn all the 7LifeLanguages.™
Our individual
combination of the 7LifeLanguages™
determines our communication style, character strengths,
filters, and needs. Each Life Language has positive and
negative characteristics. When our life and relationships
are not working, it is often because our communication
style has become toxic due to living life in the negative
character qualities of our Life Languages, rather than the
positive character strengths, which are available to us by
choice.
The 7LifeLanguages™ are identified by taking the
KLLP™, a
communication analysis inventory, which creates a profile for
each person’s Life Languages. Most people take 20 -30
minutes to complete the questionnaire, which is
multiple-choice, non-invasive and simply answered by
clicking on the most appropriate choice.
It is NOT a psychological, personality, or employment
screening test; neither is it a placement or skills test.
There are no right or wrong answers, and no Life Language
is any better or worse than any other. The KLLP™
measures 32 key foundational points of your communication
style, providing you with a 15-20-page report. Once you
read your KLLP™ report, you will better understand
yourself, see your potential, and understand your
communication style more clearly.
